Is an additional VPN/RDP connection necessary?

No, with WebConnect you do not need an additional VPN connection. The connection is established directly from the browser to the WebConnect installation. This connection is secured via HTTPS with no connection server in between. The RDP connection is then established by the WebConnect installation directly in the network to the target device. Establishing the connection in the browser via HTTPS creates another decisive advantage over VPN connections, which are not possible in many networks such as hotels, airports, train stations and other IT infrastructures due to blocked ports. Connections via HTTPS are possible from almost anywhere in the world.
